Janet Reno

Janet Wood Reno (July 21, 1938 - November 7, 2016) served as the 78th United States Attorney General from 1993 to 2001 under Bill Clinton. An authoritarian, she presided over the government siege in Waco in 1993 and forcibly returned young Elián González to his father in communist Cuba in 2000. During her reign, the population of federal prisons almost doubled. In 1994 she "decreed that federal prosecutors would no longer be restrained by the ethics guidelines of state bar associations prohibiting all lawyers from contacting defendants directly without their lawyers present."[1]
