CBS News senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang pressed White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on whether President Joe Biden believes anyone allegedly violating the same gun laws as his son, Hunter, should be prosecuted.
Hunter appeared in court Wednesday over his initial plea deal in which he pleaded guilty to illegally purchasing a gun while using drugs and misdemeanor tax charges. Judge Maryellen Noreika refused to accept the plea deal after ruling the prosecution and defense were not clear on the scope of charges the DOJ could bring against Biden in the future, which ultimately led to a revised plea deal allowing Hunter to face criminal charges again.
“President Biden spent most of his political career working on gun laws and gun reform. Does he believe that someone who is charged with possessing a firearm illegally should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law?” Jiang asked.
“Look, I think I know where this question is going, and I’m just going to continue to say, as it relates to the case that we’re seeing in Delaware, I’m just going to not speak to that,” the press secretary answered. “It is an independent matter, this is up for the Department of Justice even with the question that you’re asking me … It’s one of those legal criminal matters, it is up to that process, that legal process, and I’m just not going to speak to it here.”
“When the someone possesses one illegally, what does the president believe should happen to them?” Jiang continued.
“You just laid out what his position has been, what his policies have been, what he was able to pass into law,” she said. “I’m gonna be very mindful here, I’m gonna be very careful because I see where this question is going and I’m just going to refer you, as this has been an independent investigation that is overseen by the Department of Justice, let them speak to this as they are moving forward.”
Hunter changed his plea deal to not guilty after the judge’s rejection of the initial guilty plea in exchange for serving no jail time. The two legal teams deliberated and agreed to limit the scope of the plea to gun and tax charges, allowing the DOJ to charge him again.
‘Nothing New Here’: Karine Jean-Pierre Refuses To Speak About Hunter Biden Indictment
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to answer questions about Hunter Biden’s indictment at Friday’s press briefing.
The first son faces three charges for providing false statements and knowingly possessing a Colt Cobra revolver while he was addicted to drugs in October 2018. A reporter questioned if President Joe Biden had spoken to his son about the criminal charges.
“There’s nothing new here as I’ve been asked that question many times. I’m not going to get into private conversations that the president has with his family. I’m just not going to speak to it,” Jean-Pierre said.
“Wouldn’t the conversations though have to change given the scrutiny or these charges?” the reporter asked.
“I’m just to gonna get into private conversations that the president has with his family,” Jean-Pierre pushed back.
The Department of Justice released a Sept. 6 report announcing it was seeking an indictment against Hunter on a felony gun charge by the end of the month. The indictment was handed down about one-month after Special Counsel Merrick Garland appointed prosecutor David Weiss as special counsel to lead the investigation into Hunter’s criminal allegations on Aug. 11.
Hunter initially struck a deal with Weiss to avoid jail time by pleading guilty to the tax misdemeanors and agreeing to a pretrial diversion agreement for a felony gun charge. The agreement collapsed when U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned an immunity provision in the diversion agreement during a July hearing, which resulted in a dispute between Biden’s legal counsel and the DOJ. Hunter changed his plea to not guilty for the two tax charges.
After being appointed special counsel, Weiss requested to withdraw the first son’s two tax offenses to potentially charge him in a different jurisdiction. Noreika granted this request and dismissed the charges.

White House reporters continued to grill Karine Jean-Pierre on Joe Biden’s involvement with his son Hunter’s overseas business deals.

New York Post’s Steve Nelson turned up the heat and called out Joe Biden’s lies.
“Can you explain why the president interacted with so many of his son’s foreign business associates!? More than half of voters told CNN they believe the president was involved and he lied! You can’t have a response to that, Karine?” Steve Nelson shouted.

"There's a vast disconnect between what they say in those White House press briefings about energy and what the reality actually is," Stewart said.
President of the U.S. Oil and Gas Association Tim Stewart referred to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre as "Baghdad Barbie" for saying that the Biden administration is taking steps to lower gas prices.
"She's just sort of a Baghdad Barbie, isn't she?" Stewart said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "So I think our response is, 'Yeah. You show us that list of the actions you're taking to lower gas prices, and we'll show you our list of things that you have taken to increase gasoline prices.'"
Two of the major criticisms of the Biden administration have been high inflation and high gas prices, with gas being as much as $5.35 in states like California according to AAA.
Stewart said that an example of the administration's policies increasing gas prices was canceling the oil and gas leases in a federal wildlife refuge in Alaska.
"The irony was when she said that about lowering gas prices, the Department of Interior was in turn canceling all of those Alaska oil and gas leases," Stewart said. "There's a vast disconnect between what they say in those White House press briefings about energy and what the reality actually is."
The Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) received seven leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from the Trump administration before the inauguration of President Joe Biden, who ran on protecting wildlife. The new commander-in-chief placed those leases on hold shortly after taking office in January 2021.
The cancellation is certain to anger the energy industry, which is producing record output in America while dealing with Saudi and Russian cutbacks that are driving up gas prices.
"This arbitrary cancellation breaks a series of legal contracts between the federal government and the industry," Stewart said. "The administration is gonna get sued, and they're likely going to lose on this. But the bigger losers in all this, frankly, are the American people."

According to New York Post reporter Miranda Devine, Devon Archer is going to sing like a canary and tell Oversight Committee Republicans that Hunter Biden put his dad, then-VP Joe Biden on speakerphone into meetings with his foreign business associates at least two dozen times.
“Curious if the White House and the president still stand behind his comment that he’s never been involved and has never even spoken to his son about his business?” a reporter asked Karine Jean-Pierre.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre violated a law intended to prevent federal employees from using their office to influence elections when she repeatedly referred to “mega MAGA Republicans” in the run-up to the 2022 midterms, a government watchdog agency said.
In a letter first shared with NBC News, the Office of Special Counsel determined that Jean-Pierre’s choice of words in referring to Republican candidates was in violation of the Hatch Act.
“Because Ms. Jean‐Pierre made the statements while acting in her official capacity, she violated the Hatch Act prohibition against using her official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with or affecting the result of an election,” Ana Galindo‐Marrone, who leads the agency’s Hatch Act Unit, wrote in a June 7 letter that served as a warning to Jean-Pierre.
During a White House press briefing on Nov. 2, Jean-Pierre referred to “mega MAGA Republican officials who don’t believe in the rule of law” and made other comments disparaging Republican candidates, according to a Hatch Act complaint filed in November 2022 against Jean-Pierre by conservative watchdog Protect the Public’s Trust.
The Hatch Act prevents certain federal employees from participating in political activity, including wearing clothing that could be considered an endorsement — but this is only enforced on Trump supporters.
Recall, President Trump’s Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke was forced to step down from his post for violating the Hatch Act because he tweeted a photo of Trump socks.

The Biden White House has sanctioned several Russian oligarchs in the last year, however, they have completely left Elena Baturina alone.
“If you could, share the reason why President Biden hasn’t sanctioned the Russian billionaires Vladimir Yevtushenkov and Yelena Baturina. How is he handling the conflict of interest there given his son was a business associate of these two people,” a reporter asked KJP. “And can you confirm that as sitting vice president he dined with Baturina in Georgetown.”

On March 12, 2019, Jean-Pierre said of the 2016 Georgia governor election in response to a comment claiming voter suppression and cheating, “Yes – the race was stolen.”
A year later on April 2, 2020, with no apparent context of voting rights, Jean-Pierre accused Kemp of stealing the election from Abrams, “Reminder: Brian Kemp stole the gubernatorial election from Georgians and Stacey Abrams.”
It is telling that Jean-Pierre said to Doocy that she was waiting for him to ask her about her election denial comments. She knows the rest of the White House press corps won’t dare ask her (or Biden) such tough questions.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday said tens of millions of Trump voters are a threat to the United States.
“The president thinks there is an extremist threat to our democracy,” KJP said. “The president has been clear as he can be on that particular piece when we talk about our democracy, when we talk about our freedoms.”
“The way that he sees is the MAGA Republicans are the most energized part of the Republican party – that extreme, this is an extreme threat to our democracy, to our freedom, to our rights,” she added.

Biden delivered remarks at the Marts Center at Wilkes University after hiding out for several days.
At one point Joe Biden went off-script and threatened “right-wing Americans.”
“For those brave right-wing Americans… if you want to fight against the country, you need an F-15. You need something little more than a gun,” said Biden.

White House reporters peppered Karine Jean-Pierre with questions about Joe Biden’s new executive order and how it squares with the Hyde Amendment.
Biden’s White House spokeswoman actually claimed that the Supreme Court overturning one of its previous rulings is “unconstitutional.”
She can’t be this stupid?
“There has been an urgency from this president from day one, when the Supreme Court made this extreme decision to take away a constitutional right, it was an unconstitutional action by them,” Jean-Pierre said.
She also said Roe v Wade was “a right that was around for almost 50 years, a right that women had to make a decision on their bodies and how they want to start their families.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Friday said the White House transporting illegal aliens all over the US is different than Texas busing illegals to DC.
“What’s the difference between Texas busing migrants to D.C. and the federal government flying migrants to, say, New York in the middle of the night?” a reporter asked KJP on Friday.
“It’s very different because we are not using migrants as a political pawn,” the White House spox said.
Apparently only the Biden Regime is allowed to bus and transport illegal aliens to various locations in the middle of the night.
The Biden Regime is strategically dumping hordes of illegals in red states and red counties in an effort to change voting demographics.
But Karine Jean-Pierre had the gall to claim Republicans are “using migrants” as a political ploy.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) on Thursday requested the activation of the National Guard to help deal with the influx of illegal aliens being bused into Washington, DC.
More than 4,000 illegal aliens have been bused into DC from Texas and Arizona since mid-April.
Also according to the White House, building a border wall is only racist and xenophobic if Trump does it, but now that Biden is finishing portions of the wall it’s a-okay.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had no answer for why Joe Biden left his son Hunter a voicemail regarding the family’s business deals in China.
Last week it was reported, Joe Biden left a voice message with his drug addict son Hunter Biden about a ‘Chinese Spy Chief’.
This latest release tells us that Joe Biden lied about not speaking with Hunter about his foreign business activities.
Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Karine Jean-Pierre why there was a voicemail from Joe Biden talking to his son about his overseas business dealings if Joe Biden had said he’s never spoken to Hunter about his international business activities.
“What the president said stands,” Karine Jean-Pierre said.
Doocy pushed back on Karine Jean-Pierre but she continued to lie and obfuscate.
She continued, “I am not going to talk about alleged materials from the laptop.”

The Atlanta Federal Reserve announced on Friday that the second quarter of 2022 saw a GDP of minus 2.1 percent.
The GDP shrank by 1.6 percent in the first quarter of 2022.
As TGP reported previously, the US GDP is on a downturn and has been down with the last all-time high being in October of 2021. That is now more than six months ago.
Recessions are typically marked by an economy shrinking in back-to-back quarters, measured by gross domestic product.
The numbers reported by the Atlanta Fed will make the second quarter of negative growth.
We are in a recession thanks to Joe Biden and the Democrats but Jerome Powell continues to lie about the economy.
Last week Jerome Powell said the US economy is in “strong shape” during his congressional testimony.
“The Fact of the Matter Is the Border Is Closed”: Karine Jean-Pierre on Mass Death of Illegal Alien Migrants in Texas Truck Smuggling Attempt
The Biden administration initially responded Tuesday to news of a reported fifty illegal alien migrants being killed in a truck smuggling attempt in Texas Monday, with White House Press Secretary telling reporters on Air Force One while flying over Europe, “the border is closed” as a reason why the migrants were being smuggled in that manner. The migrants were found in the back of the truck without air conditioning or water in the sweltering south Texas heat. Reportedly sixteen survivors were found.
Biden left Germany on Tuesday, where he attended the weekend G7 meeting, to head to Spain for a NATO summit.

As to whether the border is closed, hundreds if not thousands of illegal aliens are crossing the open border every day to be processed by Border Patrol knowing that most of them will not be deported by the Biden administration. Rather, they will be transported by the Biden administration to their final destination within the United States, with unaccompanied minors now set to be sent to a luxury camp in North Carolina.
On Monday hundreds of illegal aliens crossed unimpeded from Mexico into Eagle Pass, Texas.
Border reporter Todd Bensman blamed Biden for the deaths, noting that Biden has gutted immigration enforcement beyond the 100 mile Border Patrol zone, “There is now a special place in hell for Biden & progressives behind the deportation-sanctuary built inside America. Their poor victims, knowing they can’t be deported 100 miles in, died reaching for the Biden free zone. Hearings!”

Q Can you tell us about what the White House’s reaction is to this incident in San Antonio with the migrants found in the truck and if this points to a larger problem on the border?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: It’s devastating. So, we’re closely monitoring the absolutely horrific and heartbreaking reports out of San Antonio, Texas. And I can tell you the President has been briefed and is going to continue to be regularly updated.
Our prayers are with those who tragically lost their lives, their loved ones, as well as those still fighting for their lives.
We’re also grateful for the swift work of federal, state, and local first responders.
As Secretary Mayorkas said, “Far too many lives have been lost…[to] this dangerous journey.” We will continue to take action to disrupt human smuggling networks, which have no regard for lives. They explo- — exploit and endanger in order to make a profit.

Q — Republican lawmakers blame the President and his policies for the — for that loss of life. I was wondering if you have any response to that. And does the President believe that the continued sort of — you know, his inability to lift border protections by those two federal court orders may have contributed to this tragedy?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: So, 46 people died — right? — in the state of Texas, and so — and others, as I just mentioned, are still fighting for their lives.
So we’re still learning their names. Their families are still learning they lost loved ones, as when a tragic situation normally happens. We’re focused on them, on the facts, and holding the human strugglers [smugglers] who endangered vulnerable individual — individuals for profits accountable.
And we’re — and we’re focused on continuing our historic actions to disrupt dangerous smuggling networks, including through a new anti-smuggling campaign that just in the first two months resulted in over 1,800 arrests. But the fact of the matter is the border is closed, which is in part why you see people trying to make this dangerous journey using smuggling networks.
Again, our hearts go out to the families at this time. We are going to stay focused on the facts and making sure that we hold these smugglers accountable. That’s going to be our focus.

President Biden’s new White House press secretary has previously claimed the 2016 presidential election was “stolen” from Hillary Clinton and that Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp “stole” the 2018 gubernatorial election from Stacey Abrams.
“Stolen emails, stolen drone, stolen election …..welcome to the world of #unpresidented Trump,” Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted after former President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential win, repeating Clinton’s claims that Trump was illegitimately elected.
“Reminder: Brian Kemp stole the gubernatorial election from Georgians and Stacey Abrams,” Jean-Pierre tweeted on April 2, 2020, reacting to a news story about Kemp saying he only just learned that asymptomatic people can spread COVID-19.
Abrams, who announced in December that she would take another shot at running for Georgia governor, has repeatedly claimed that the election was “stolen” from Georgia voters and has never conceded her loss to Kemp.
