Some old video footage from a July 7, 2016 House Oversight Committee recently resurfaced regarding Clinton’s email server. You can find the full transcript here.

Of particular interest were three separate exchanges.

The first exchange between Chairman Jason Chaffetz and State Department Inspector General Steve Linick, a second between Representative Gowdy and Linick, and finally, a third between Representative Grothman and Linick.

As you watch the videos and read the transcripts, recall that the Inspector General Empowerment Act – something current DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz fought long and hard to obtain – had not yet been passed into law.

It’s being reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has ordered DOJ prosecutors to ask FBI agents about evidence they found in the now dormant Uranium One Investigation.

The true Uranium One story was always about Kazakhstan uranium assets.

Frank Giustra owned UrAsia, a small – and newly formed – uranium company that was seeking to purchase lucrative uranium reserves in Kazakhstan.

Via an orchestrated FBI leak, a get-in-front-of-the-news Washington Post article was released yesterday:

The former top FBI official assigned to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election was taken off that job this summer after his bosses discovered he and another member of Mueller’s team had exchanged politically charged texts disparaging President Trump and supporting Hillary Clinton.

Peter Strzok, as deputy head of counterintelligence at the FBI, was a key player in the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server to do government work as secretary of state, as well as the probe into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.

During the Clinton investigation, Strzok was involved in a romantic relationship with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who worked for Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

The Post article – along with an accompanying NYT piece, was released only when it became clear that details of an ongoing Inspector General Investigation into the matter would be forthcoming.

General Michael Flynn, former National Security Advisor to President Trump, plead guilty to lying to the FBI regarding his conversations with Russia’s ambassador to the United States.

Flynn is pleading guilty to a one-count criminal information. The Statement of the Offense may be found here.

The false-statement charge stems from Flynn’s conversations on December 22, 2016 and December 29, 2016, with Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak. The Hill just published an article containing new information on Russian bribes, Hillary Clinton and the sale of Uranium One to Russia.

The article is titled, FBI uncovered Russian bribery plot before Obama administration approved controversial nuclear deal with Moscow. For those unfamiliar, The Hill is actually a Center-Left publication…

While we have previously known some sordid details about the Uranium One transaction…

Clinton’s approval of the Uranium One deal while Secretary of State, transferred more than 20% of the U.S. uranium supply to Russia. The Clinton Foundation received $31 million with a pledge for $100 million more as a result. Ultimately, the Clinton Foundation received $145 million in “donations” from nine shareholders of Uranium One. Most of these “donations” were not legally disclosed by the Clinton Foundation.

…details regarding the DOJ’s and FBI’s knowledge of bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering by Russia at the time of the Uranium One transaction is new information.

If public, this information would almost certainly have prevented approval of Uranium One’s sale to Russia.Continue Reading

Tom Fitton and Judicial Watch recently obtained 1,606 pages of documents from the U.S. State Department that showed transmission of classified data by Clinton aides – including Huma Abedin. Many emails showed acts of Clinton Foundation donors requesting – and obtaining – favors. A separate release (discussed further down) pertains to talking points developed by the Justice Department in relation to the Bill Clinton-Loretta Lynch Tarmac Meeting. Fusion GPS is the firm who commissioned the infamous – and discredited – Steele dossier on President Trump. Fusion GPS is currently stonewalling the Senate Judiciary Committee’s investigation into Fusion GPS ties to the Democratic Party. And Fusion steadfastly refuses to say who paid for the dossier.

Now, it turns out that Fusion GPS was employed by the Russian government – at the exact same time that Fusion commissioned the Trump dossier.

Stop and think on that a moment.

The House Judiciary Committee issued a press release on July 27, 2017, stating that a formal request for the appointment of a second Special Counsel has been made to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The actual letter may be viewed here.

The Judiciary Committee members were specific in their request. They are asking for investigation into the following:

The members call for the appointment of a second special counsel to investigate grave concerns such as former Attorney General Lynch’s directive to former FBI Director Comey to mislead the American people on the nature of the investigation into former Secretary Clinton; the FBI and Justice Department’s investigative decisions related to the Clinton email investigation, including the immunity deals given to potential co-conspirators; selected leaks of classified information that unmasked U.S. persons incidentally collected upon by the intelligence community; and the FBI’s reliance on “Fusion GPS” in its investigation of the Trump campaign, among many others issues.Continue Reading

The Democrats have managed to pressure Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein into appointing former FBI Director Robert Mueller as Special Counsel to handle the Russian Investigation.

My question is – other than being a pressured response to external political forces – why?

There is no evidence of collusion between President Trump and the Russian Government. None.

This has been repeatedly – although reluctantly – stated by senior Democrats like Dianne Feinstein. Feinstein is the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee and a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee. She has access to the best levels of information. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is comprised of 60 Agencies. The organizational view is presented here. There are 93 U.S District Attorneys and 94 Districts (Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands share a District Attorney). The DOJ employs approximately 115,000 individuals with about 35,000 of these contained within the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). In 2015, the DOJ had an operating budget of $31 billion.

And the DOJ is a swamp.

Under Obama, the DOJ was fundamentally pushed to the left by Attorney General Eric Holder and then by his successor, Loretta Lynch. Sally Yates rounded out the Obama appointed DOJ leadership with her famously short stint before being fired by President Trump.

J. Christian Adams—who served in the Department of Justice under President George W. Bush – points to the DOJ’s notoriously left-leaning  Civil Rights Division, saying that “it touches more parts of American’s lives than any federal agency and impacts issues like police, voting, schools, transgender, hiring practices, education. The Clinton Global Initiative announced that it would be closing its doors for good on April 15th, 2017. The Clinton Global Initiative is the largest of the Clinton Foundation’s programs. According to the Clinton Foundation website:

“The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) convenes leaders to drive action through its unique model. Rather than directly implementing projects, CGI facilitates actions by helping members connect, collaborate and make effective and measurable Commitments to Action. The CGI model drives action among its members in the following four ways: Inspiration..Networking…Knowledge Building…Collaboration.”

I’m not sure exactly what those words mean – and finding concrete descriptions of CGI’s actual activities is not that easy – but one thing about CGI is clear. The Clinton Global Initiative was the primary doorway connecting the Clintons to corporate and foreign donors interested in gaining political access to Washington.Continue Reading

It’s hard to know where to start.

How to put things in perspective? So very much has changed in such a short space of time. Even when it was so very long in coming.

The financial markets have responded to Trump’s election with a thunderous roar of approval. The equity markets have been on fire  – the Dow Jones is up 5% for the week and closed at a new high. Bonds got rocked with the yield rising to 2.12% on the 10-year Treasury in anticipation of future economic growth and inflation (bear in mind the Fed’s target rate for inflation is 2% – some inflation is healthy). Investors are cheering the prospects of actual economic growth – along with an end to the perpetual Federal Reserve quantitative easing – that comes with tax cuts, a fiscal stimulus plan and…regulatory rollback. There is the very real possibility that we will get a repeal of the truly awful Dodd-Frank Act.Continue Reading

Think about it this way. This country has millions of folks who get up every day, go to their jobs, coach their kids’ little league teams, have dinner around the living room table – and then sit down in front of the television and find out they are mocked for the very values that guide their daily life.

Now click on the Politics tab. That’s probably where they keep the real stories right? Hmmm. I see a story on why North Carolina is so important. I see a story about three Australians who crossed an ocean to knock on doors for Clinton. Bill Clinton formerly created the William J Clinton Foundation in 2001 at the end  of  his presidency.

On January 20, 2001 – and just hours before formally leaving the presidential office for good – Bill Clinton pardoned Marc Rich, an international commodities trader.

Rich had been indicted on charges of tax evasion and illegally trading oil with Iran. It was the biggest tax evasion case in U.S. history. He was indicted on 65 counts but fled to Switzerland. The man who brought the indictment against Rich was none other than Rudy Giuliani.Continue Reading

Quite the presidential mess. And deservedly so for some. Hillary Clinton Inc, FBI Director Comey, President Obama, The Department of Justice, The State Department. They all deserve what they are reaping with this literally unprecedented re-opening of the Clinton Email Investigation.

But the United States of America and its voters? They deserve none of this.

Virginia Governor and longtime Clinton confidant Terry McAuliffe donated $467,500 to the 2015 Senate campaign of Dr. Jill McCabe. The Virginia Democratic Party (more or less controlled by McAuliffe) donated an additional $207,788 for a grand total of $675,288. This equated to more than a third of Dr. McCabe’s campaign funds. Mr. McAuliffe recruited Dr. McCabe to run in the first place – an election she lost to Republican Dick Black.

Why is this important? Why am I writing about politics on a day when I had told myself I would not do so?

You knew he had to come prepared. He had to be at his finest for this third and final debate. Sharp. Focused. In control. He looked slightly nervous at first – recognizing the significance of the moment – but he settled quickly and moved forward with purpose. He was thoughtful yet tough. Aggressive but not pushy. He maintained his poise and exhibited a certain dignity. He spoke when he should and knew when to stay quiet. Yes, Chris Wallace was truly excellent, just outstanding in every way. Oh yeah, Trump was there too. And Clinton.

It’s an old adage but one that rings particularly true right now. That and maybe the one about how power corrupts.

We are currently enduring two of the least popular, least liked and least trusted candidates we have ever seen. One, seemingly corrupt and a congenital liar and the other childish, boorish and unpredictable (I’ll leave it to you to figure out which is which). It’s embarrassing. And scary. And ugly.

I woke up this morning to the “stunning” news that Trump was only 4 points behind Hillary according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. As an aside the WSJ’s web page headline reads Trump trails Hillary by 11 using a different – and possibly earlier poll – go figure. Either way, I didn’t find the news all that stunning.

Allow me to explain. For the entire campaign, the media has been reporting on Trump. Digging up whatever they could. And then came the news of Trump’s comments and the entire firestorm that ensued. In my personal opinion the media ended up far more frothy and lathered about this issue than did the general public – but that’s not the direct point I will be making – although it is connected.Continue Reading

This has been an election characterized by low emotions. We’ve all had almost visceral reactions to the tenor (and words) of the entire process.

The 2nd debate reignited those feelings. The attacks from both candidates were like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Trump threatened to appoint a special prosecutor to go after Clinton and Hillary came right out and stated that Donald was unfit to be president. And so much more. An amazing spectacle it was.

Do you remember when it was political suicide for a presidential candidate to admit he had smoked marijuana…even once? I do. We all knew deep down it was a lie but it didn’t really matter. Because our presidential candidates were supposed to be better than us, principled, educated, refined, pure even – leaders that had poise, charisma, intelligence, and a steady, calming presence.

We needed our potential leaders to be superior to us – not in a demeaning “I’m better than you” sense but in a “I’m here and everything is going to be better” sense. We needed leaders befitting the presidency of the greatest nation this world has ever seen.Continue Reading
